GSC B/C Graded Gala update:
Hi all, Well our Bluefin swimmers did us (and themselves) proud at the B/C graded gala in NUIG on Sunday evening.
We had 11 swimmers: 21 swims with 2 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 7 pb’s and a new A time. We had 10 new times from our wonderful swimmers.
Jamie Gunning(9) putting in a remarkable performance in Boys U11 Breast Stroke and Boys U11 100m IM.
Jake Van de Beek(11) achieved a fantastic 5 second PB in the U11 breast stroke and a new time in the 100m IM.
Luke Burke, fantastically achieved great times in his first gala ever. Well done Luke.
Alex Duffy(12) got great new times with his two swims, and received a gold (breast) and silver (IM) for his efforts. Well done Alex.
Hannah Durkan (11) achieved a whopping 27 second PB in her 100m Breast stroke and a fantastic B time in the 100m IM. Super swim Hannah.
Emily Talbot (11) swam brilliantly with a huge 16 sec PB in the 100m breast stroke and a new time in the 100m IM – ooooooh so close to a B time Emily.
Lucy O’Dea (12) achieved a fantastic 12 second PB in the 100m breast stroke – and a gold medal for her efforts. She also swam well in her 100m IM achieving a new B time. Ugh… very close to the A there Lucy.
Alana(12) and Aoife(12) Fury – the great comeback twins – did us and themselves proud. Both received excellent PBs and Alana got a Gold and Silver medal for herself. Aoife also received a bit of bling, bringing home a silver for the 100m IM.
Ciara Mohan (15) did an excellent breast with a fantastic 6 sec PB and a new B time in the 100m IM. Ciara also acquired a bit of bling for herself, taking home two silver medals.
Last but not least, Cathal Reck achieved his A time in the 100m IM – I bet that was worth the wait, Cathal. Well done.
Bluefin also had two entries for the Mixed Relays, U11 and 12-13 – Emily and Hannah with Jake and Luke swam excellently but unfortunately the other teams got the better of them.
Max and Alex with Aoife and Lucy also swam excellently in there race. Well done to Max Bonvicsini-Bennett on his first gala also… first of many Max!
Thanks to Helen Gunning and Seamus Leahy who were coaches at the poolside, guiding and assisting the children for the evening. Thanks to Marion Furey for helping out also and saving us a few quid (don’t ask). I was very proud to be Team Manager as the children did themselves and the club proud. Also thanks to the gorgeous Claire for her assistance.
Well done to all.
