Happy New Year
Now that January is here
A great new start
For a brand new year

What a magnificent way to kickstart the swimming season with Bluefin SC hosting the first Development Meet of the year. Thirty-one athletes took part in 67 events in the Kingfisher, NUIG on Saturday 12th January 2019.

A very special mention to our new swimmers taking part in their first Development Meet. They all achieved excellent times in their events and we are looking forward to spending many more galas with these wonderful new members. We hope you enjoyed your experience as much as we did, well done to: Amy, Élim, Emma P, Harry, Jack, Lilian O, Lily, Rian C, Ruairi and Síofra.

With a New Year comes new years resolutions – promises you make to yourself to do better.

On this memorable night, resolutions for 2019 were already being realised with our amazing athletes accomplishing 92% PB’s in their swim times. Our superb swimmers acquired B and C times in their events and we are so proud of their evident hard work and commitment.

You are incredible young people in the 21 medals – 9 golds, 7 silvers and 5 bronze – that were awarded to you!

Congratulations to Geordan, who achieved his A-time in 100m freestyle, and to Thomas who attained his first A-time in 200m IM. Anthony racked up another A-time in 200m IM by smashing his PB by 37 seconds! Pola’s phenomenal performances produced an A-time hat-trick in 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m IM! What an outstanding start to the New Year!

Thank you to the committee, parents, family and friends for your contribution in making our gala such a fantastic fun-filled event. Without you it would not be possible and we appreciate and commend all you do, time and again for our club.
