Committee Update 2021

Dear Swim Parents,

We are very fortunate to be part of the Bluefin Swim Club. In the 10 years Bluefin has been in existence, it has grown from a small club with a few swimmers, to one of the most dynamic clubs in the region – thanks to the very professional coaching staff led by Helen and supported by the committee.

We are now at a point of transition in the club where some of the committee members that have been involved with the club over the last 10 years will be stepping away. This provides a great opportunity for new parents to come on to the committee and help to shape the club for the years ahead. You don’t need to know anything about competitive swimming to get involved – we can teach you that – all we need is your enthusiasm and energy.

We now look forward to receiving nominations for these vital committee positions. The club will be unable to continue without these roles being filled.

– Club Secretary
– Club Children’s Officer
– Parent-in-Attendance Secretary
– Vice-Chairperson – transition over the year to Chair
– Vice-Treasurer – transition over the year to Treasurer

We need representatives from all squads on the committee to ensure fairness and succession – so please don’t think these roles are the preserve of parents of swimmers in the Competitive or Performance Squads – we need help from across the whole club. If you would like to discuss any of the roles before making any decisions please don’t hesitate to contact us – there is no obligation from having a chat with us.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our departing committee members for their dedicated service to the club over many years.

Kirsten Pfeiffer, our Senior Gala Secretary, and many other roles over the years. We will all miss her knowledge and sage advice in the many aspects of competition and efficient club administration.

Jean Kearney, our Club Children’s Officer, and previous Chairperson. Jean has made great contributions to the running of the club over the years and we will miss her wise advice and calm approach.

Christine Watterson, our Club Secretary, will replace Kirsten as Senior Gala Secretary. Christine has been an amazing support to the whole club and has been an excellent administrator and we are very grateful that she is taking on her new role.

The Bluefin Swimming Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday 8th September at 7pm sharp.

Motions must be received on, or before, Wednesday 25th August, by the Club Secretary at bluefin.secretary@gmail.com
