Athlone Claremorris Short Course Gala got underway on Sunday morning, the 26th March in Claremorris Leisure Centre. Bluefin were in action and well represented with sixteen swimmers participating in this session under the watchful eye of the encouraging Coach Celine.
Some big swims were scheduled for this session including the 400m Free and the ever popular 100m Free. Bluefin had four swimmers attending their first Club Invitational event and it was impossible to tell as the team rallied around and support each other right from the warmups.
Some great swims made by our impressive swimmers throughout the day with a number of PBs being recorded throughout the team, mini celebrations with some jellies and some seed times being set.
A real team feature of the event, highlighting the truth, belief and bond within the Bluefin team were the male and female relay events. Fierce competition was evident from the starting whistle, and the noise levels truly raised the roof. Amazing swims put in by the teams in the water and as the anchor swimmer took to the water in the relay events the noise became electrifying with the boys finishing first in their heat and the girls not only finishing first in their heat but taking the gold at the event.
The team spirit on the day was Bluefin to the core. An incredible group of swimmers, Mila, Maya, Blanka, Sarah P, Sarah Y, Isabella, Leah, Ellie, Aoileann, Colm, Adam, Harry, Sebastian, Cian, Conor and Liam.
A shout out goes out to our medallist’s on the day Blanka, Liam, Maya, Aoileann, Leah, Ellie and a huge thank you to Celine for her support, encouragement and guidance
