Bluefin SC join three Connacht Clubs to represent Ireland at the FISEC-FICEP Games 2019 in Bucharest in July.
Congratulations to Sorcha, Caoilin, Robin, Rory, Jake and Luke who recently returned from the FISEC-FICEP Games. Headed by Head Coach Eduardo Santos, the team were joined by County Sligo SC; Laser SC and Castlebar SC.
The main objective of the trip was to give young athletes the opportunity to experience the many factors that an international off-shore competition offers.
To perform in a different environment requires a lot considerations! The athletes negotiated a busy agenda between looking after their competitions, recovery and nutrition, and, of course, their social-life – the opening ceremony, living in the youth village, a cultural tour to the Presidential Palace, running a bazar, an Awards Night and the closing ceremony and disco.
It was a fantastic adventure for all involved – athletes, coaches, team staff, parents and supporters. Ultimately, the team made great new friends through our own Team Ireland, and from all around Europe (and Brazil) – giving our athletes a unique experience and life memories!
Team Ireland proudly won two gold, six silver and five bronze medals – and a lot of lessons learned!
“More than winning a medal, to be part of the Team is an athlete’s privilege!” Eduardo Santos
Big Bluefin thanks for the enthusiasm and support from our six athletes and team manager Helen Van de Beek.
To ensure the smooth running of the swim, please have your swimmer on deck, ready to start at their allotted time.
Before committing to a try-out with Bluefin SC, swimmers must be aged 9 or above, and have the following requirements:
• ASA Level 8 certificate, or equivalent.
• Be able to swim 100m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke, non-stop, all technically correct.
• Be happy to attempt a dive and try one length of Butterfly.
If currently attending swimming lessons, parents should discuss their child’s readiness to graduate to competitive swimming with their swim school/teacher.
