What a fantastic Irish Open Championships & Olympic Trials 2024 – thank-you Swim Ireland for a really well organised event, with great swimming, records broken, new Olympians and an opportunity to swim and compete with the best!
Bluefin Highlights
John had a great Championship and raised the roof of the NAC a number of times with the crowd support. He claimed a new Irish Senior and Junior record for 200M Backstroke, National Gold medallist in 200M Backstroke, National Gold medallist in 50M Backstroke (with a new PB) and a finalised in 100M Backstroke (with a new PB). John will be heading to the European Aquatics Championships in Belgrade in July. The future is very bright!
Thomas swam in 4 events over the event and achieved a .59 PB in the 100 Breaststroke Junior Final to swim in 1.09.63, He also qualified for the B Finals in 50 and 200M Breaststroke.
Mark qualified for the 200M Backstroke Super Final and had a great swim in a very competitive race. He had an event PB of .59 seconds in the 100 Metre Backstroke and competed in the Junior Final.
Isolde had a great event, PB’ing in the 100 M Breaststroke by .64 seconds and swam a fast 50M Breaststorke.
A massive thank-you also to all the Bluefin family, supporters and team members that travelled and supported the team. Also to Coach Ian, and to all the Officials, Teams Managers and the behind the scenes Swim Ireland staff that have been very, very busy.
